Only the best is good enough

Whether it's genuine Wachau apricot marmalades from the Holzapfel estate, fresh milk and yoghurt directly from local farmers or fresh rolls from the village baker. There is only room for the best even at breakfast and the quality of our products is given special emphasis; a fact which our guests appreciate.

Warm food is available throughout the day. Whether it is a hearty "Gröstel" fry up or homemade Apfelstrudel on the sun terrace, our kitchen is at your beck and call.

In the evening there are three multiple course menus at your disposal, as fish, meat and vegetarian dishes. Chef Michael and his team are masters at applying their comprehensive inventiveness to provide special culinary delights. The ingredients are hand-selected and the herbs grow in grandmother's herbal garden: nothing is left to coincidence here.

The wine cellar at the Schmelzhof leaves nothing to be desired. The finest wines from Austria and the whole world are there to complement your unforgettable gastronomic experience.
Of special note is our broad assortment of magnum bottles.

Round off the evening perfectly in the cosy fireplace lounge or at the bar. Our head barman Andreas is delighted to provide the finest single malts, refines cocktails or maybe a glass of champagne before your retire.

As we said, only the best is good enough for our guests and that is our guiding statement.

Jack Frost overslept a little this year, but now he is wide awake...
You-hoo! The snowball fight can begin!
Winter is finally here... and this is just the beginning; 40 – 80cm are pected this week. Therefore there's nothing to get in the way of the Schmelzhof opening on Thursday! Robert's off to wax his skis.

Duzi's last beautiful summer bouqet. She has provided us with so many pretty bouquets. Now nature is getting quieter, and everything is poised for winter.
On a Sunday morning in October, Winter made a little visit. The snow canons are already in the starting blocks. Grandmother has had to trample a little path in the snow. Doesn't this winter landscape look magnificent? We are very happy that Jack Frost has awakened again.
Woohoo, it's snowing! October 7th and the first snow is here. Bring on the winter!
