Just in time for the start of the winter season, Brand: Trust together with Mountain Management consulting (the marketing specialist for ski lifts and tourism organization) published its survey results for the “Top 40 most popular winter sports destination-brand of the Alps 2010. Clear and outright winner: the ski region of Lech Zürs am Arlberg.
The top 40 winter sports destination-brand in the German speaking alpine region was determined from the following criteria: loyalty, intention to return and willingness to recommend further.
With more than 18 000 skiers being surveyed over the period of Christmas 2009 until January 2010 at the top 40 ski resorts in the German speaking alpine region this brand appeal factor survey is the largest and most significant of its kind in Europe. The study was carried out on the basis of face to face interviews as well as the answering of questionnaires which were distributed at mountain restaurants and huts after addressing people directly.
From the 18 000 questioned, more than 7000 were Austrian which is around 40%, while a third were from Switzerland, one fifth from Italy and the remaining being from Germany.
The winter sports destination-brand with the highest appeal factor is determined every three years, hence Brand: Trust has created an index that makes appeal factor calculable and therefore it can be optimized. The destination of Lech Zürs was the undeniable winner with an “appeal rate” of 69%.
According to the study it addresses particularly experienced ski holiday makers, the reason being the loyalty of guests increasing in accordance of their skiing ability. Lech Zürs also received the highest rating by far from those surveyed for its lift transport comfort.
Lech Zürs are extremely proud of this tremendous commendation and look forward to a successful winter season 2010/11.
